Back To Basics: Pheromone “Overdosing”

A young woman in a yellow shirt makes a face that says she smells something weird and looks off to one side out of the corner of her eye.

Happy Friday, Love Scent fans!

This week, we’re once again going back to basics! This time, we’re covering something you may have encountered before: pheromone overdosing!

First, let’s clarify: what exactly is pheromone “overdosing?” Basically, it just means “using too many pheromones.” Sometimes, using more pheromones than you need isn’t really a problem, because the pheromones have no bad side effects even when used in large amounts. In other cases, though, using too many pheromones can lead to unpleasant results!

In general, social pheromones (such as AndrosteNOL) won’t lead to overdoses. It’s really only a problem with sex pheromones (such as AndrosteNONE), which often have more aggressive effects.

So what are the effects of pheromone overdosing, and how do you avoid it? Let’s dive right in!

PHEROMONE OVERDOSING: EFFECTS ON YOU

As you probably know, pheromones have a lot of “self-effects.” These are the effects that the pheromones have on you, the person wearing them, rather than their effects on the people around you.

When you’re using the right amount of pheromones, the self-effects are usually very positive. You might feel more confident, more energetic, and more focused. In some cases, you might be more in tune with your partner and more interested in intimacy. Thanks to these benefits, some people use pheromones for the self-effects alone!

When you use too much of certain pheromones, though, the self-effects stop being positive and start being irritating. In the case of strong sex pheromones, like AndrosteNONE, you might feel irritated and confrontational if you use too much. This can have a negative impact on your interactions with everyone around you. It’s important to use the right amount so that you feel confident and authoritative rather than irritable!

Some pheromones only have negative effects on certain people. AndrostaDIENONE, for example, has many positive effects on straight women’s moods, but men can have a depressed mood when they use too much of it. Use the right amount, and you’ll be alluring and attractive instead of gloomy. Wearing the right amount matters!

Basically, you should be aware of two things. First, pheromone overdosing can make things unpleasant for you, not just for other people. Second, the effects vary by pheromone, so it’s important to know all the potential effects of all the pheromones you wear.

Okay, now that you know what pheromone overdosing can do to you, let’s look into its effects on those around you!

PHEROMONE OVERDOSING: EFFECTS ON OTHERS

So, pheromone overdosing can put you in a bad mood. But what are its effects on other people?

Well, the first thing people will notice is the smell. If you’ve ever opened up a bottle of strong sex pheromones, like Alpha-7, you know that some pheromones naturally have a body odor-like smell. If you use too much of any sex pheromone, you’ll smell like you went to the gym and didn’t shower afterwards! (For this reason, we recommend always wearing cover scents with sex pheromones.)

Next, people will probably respond the same way you did: by feeling irritable, agitated, or gloomy. The negative effects depend on the pheromone and the personality of the person exposed to it, but either way, they won’t be what you hoped!

For example, if you use the correct amount of AndrosteNONE, people will find you magnetic, attractive, and dependable. Use too much, though, and they’ll find you irritating, overbearing, and unpleasant. Some people might get confrontational with you; others might be shy and fearful around you. Not exactly the effects you were hoping for, right?

Another example, for men in particular: use the right amount of AndrostaDIENONE, and your fellow men will be eager to cooperate with you and work with you. Use too much, and they’ll be intimidated and anxious. It’s in your best interest, and theirs, to not overdo it!

It’s clear by now, we hope, that overdosing on pheromones isn’t the best idea. But how do you avoid it to begin with? Let’s talk about that next!

PHEROMONE OVERDOSING: HOW TO AVOID IT

So, you want to avoid pheromone overdosing. How do you make sure you’re not using too much? It’s actually not that hard!

First, remember the central mantra of using pheromones: less is almost always more! It’s better to start out with less than you think you’ll need. For example, if you’ve read that you can use 1-2 drops of Alpha-7, just start with 1 drop. If you don’t see any effects, you can add the second drop later. In this case, it’s much better to underestimate than overestimate!

Second, remember that different people need different amounts of pheromones. You might naturally produce higher levels of sex pheromones than the next person, or you might produce less. Also, you might naturally come across as more confident than the person standing next to you, or you might naturally seem meeker. These are just some of the factors that will influence how much of a particular pheromone you might need!

Third, remember that other people will respond differently to pheromones, too. Some people will be more easily intimidated than others. If you’re trying to attract a particular person, pay close attention to their responses to your pheromones. Be prepared to use less, or more, depending on their response!

And fourth, remember that some pheromones are more likely to result in an overdose than others! Read up on the pheromones you’re wearing to see if you need to be careful with how much you’re using. This will help you plan out the amount you’ll wear, and help you know whether you need to keep an eye out for signs of overdosing. (You can look at our Pheromone Focus and Pheromone Science series for help!)

And finally, fifth: you can decrease the likelihood of a pheromone overdose by pairing sex pheromones with social pheromones! By adding AndrosteNOL to your AndrosteNONE and/or AndrostaDIENONE, the mood-elevating, anxiety-reducing effects of the social pheromone can balance out any negative effects of the sex pheromones. Wearing multiple pheromones together is often the best way to go!

As you keep all of the above points in mind, remember that experimenting is an important step of using pheromones. You’ll want to keep track of how people react to you when you’re wearing a certain amount of a certain pheromone. If you see signs that you’ve used too much, you’ll know to use less next time!

There you have it, Love Scent fans! Everything you need to know about pheromone overdosing, and how to avoid it! We hope this has given you the tools you need to experiment with pheromones with confidence!
