Now, on to today’s topic: copulins, the female sex pheromone!

The word “copulins” refers to a group of fatty acids secreted in the vagina. These acids are produced throughout the month, but they are produced at their highest levels during ovulation. In the animal kingdom, copulins serve as a signal from females to males that the female is ready to mate; in fact, the word “copulins” comes from the word “copulate,” a more technical term for sex.
