Pheromone Overdosing: How To Avoid It With 4 Easy Guidelines

When used correctly, pheromones can give you a great boost in confidence and make you more attractive to other people, but using too much will often result in the opposite effect and people will end up avoiding you or thinking that you stink!  Using too much pheromone product is called “overdosing”.  Overdosing is easy to avoid as long as you follow a few guidelines, especially when you are trying out a new product.  Read on to learn about these guidelines so that you can safely use pheromones without turning people off.

1. Find Your Dosage

Since everyone has different body chemistry and different levels of natural pheromone production, it is important that you figure out the best dosage for you for each new pheromone product that you try.  The best way to do this is to start with a small dosage and work your way up till you feel like you’re getting good hits from other people.  All pheromone products have different concentrations of pheromones, and many of them have a recommended dosage on our website or on the packaging.  If you can’t find a recommended dosage, a good rule of thumb is to start with 1-2 drops or sprays applied to a couple areas on your body and see how it works for you.  Remember: you won’t get any negative effects from not using enough pheromones, but using too much can result in a very disappointing day out!

2. Make Sure to Use Cover Scents With Unscented Pheromones

This is a tip we’ve mentioned several times before on this blog, but it’s worth mentioning here as well.  Unscented pheromones still have a smell, they just don’t have any fragrance added to them.  In particular, many people find that androstenone and androstadienone have a musky smell very similar to bad body odor.  These pheromones are still great to use and very powerful, but if you’re using pure pheromones or an unscented pheromone formula, you need to make sure that you cover it with a nice fragrance so that people won’t be turned off by your scent.  This isn’t exactly “overdosing”, but it’s still something you should always consider.  Furthermore, androstenone actually smells different to different people.  Some people smell a nice, vanilla scent, some people smell the aforementioned body odor smell, and some people smell nothing at all!  If you’re someone who doesn’t smell anything or smells vanilla, you’ll want to make extra sure that you don’t use too much of any product containing androstenone.

3. Be Extra Careful When Combining Pheromone Products

Using two pheromone products together can be extremely effective.  When properly combined, two pheromone products can give you the best effects of both individual products and can even boost some of those effects to the next level.  However, combining pheromones also has a high risk of overdose if you aren’t careful.  Most of the time, you should start with one drop or spray of each and work your way up from there just like you would with one product.  Discovering your own combinations and formulas can be a great experience, just make sure to be extremely careful that you don’t use too much.

4. Consider Your Age

As we grow older, our bodies produce less and less natural pheromones.  When we are teenagers, our bodies produce more pheromones than they will at any other point in our lives.  For this reason, it’s not usually recommended for teenagers to use pheromone products at all, simply because teenagers do not need extra pheromones and are very likely to overdose even when using small amounts.  In your 20s, pheromone products can be a great benefit, but you still should not be using a lot at once, because your body still produces a decent amount of natural pheromones.  The older you get, the harder it is to overdose, as there comes a point where your body will naturally produce very little pheromones.  Keep your age in mind when trying out a pheromone product for the first time, and if you’re a younger person, make sure to start with very small amounts before working your way up.

If you follow these guidelines, you shouldn’t have to worry too much about overdosing on pheromones.  If you do end up using too many pheromones at some point, don’t worry!  There is no health-risk associated with using too much pheromone product, the only risk is that other people won’t want to be around as much as normal.  Just make sure to start with small amounts and go from there, and you should be good to go.  If you liked this article and want to be updated whenever we add a new post, subscribe to our newsletter.  You’ll also get some free samples!  Also don’t forget to comment if you have any questions, concerns, comments, or topics you’d like us to discuss in future posts.

  1. We wrote an article about pheromones a while ago only after I tried it out a couple of weeks. My experience is that you should not use uncovered unscented pheromones. In a small case study using uncovered unscented pheromones with my (female;-) friends, most of them complained about the here-mentioned musky smell. So, tip no. 2 is very important!

  2. These products are great I’m still trying to see what works best but I’ve been pleased with everything I have tried

  3. Great article, all 4 points are valid. I always use a cover scent to maximize coverage.

  4. What’s the best way to remove Pheromones or is it OK or will a build up will happen

    • The easiest way to remove pheromones is with a good shower. Just scrub anywhere you’ve applied pheromones, as well as everywhere else you’d normally wash, and you’re good to go. It’s usually not a good idea to wear a lot of pheromones before showering in the first place anyway.
